Someone thought we were doing this as a joke, no we're not
This is serious ritual because we are here to raise the spirit
And spirit is a part of life and life is serious business
But joy…joy cannot be left out.
It says in the Charge of the Goddess that
'ye shall dance, sing, feast, make music and love, all in my praise.
For mine is the ecstasy of the spirit, and mine also is joy on earth;
for my law is love unto all beings.'
Joy cannot be left out. Joy must be part of our lives. Humor must be a part of our lives. How do we know? Even the doctors tell us that humor is good your body and I say that it is also good for your soul.
The Goddess said:
'Let my worship be within the heart that rejoiceth;
for behold, all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals.'
So I'm going to ask you this. I'm going to ask you to open your hearts and
minds.
I want you to laugh, but laugh with the spirit of joy!
I want you to dance and dance with the spirit of the gods.
Well, it's time. It's time to clap your hands and stamp your feet.
It's time to, open your hearts and feel the spirit!
Here we are at Boyd Hill among the trees. Can you feel that spirit?
Can feel the Joy without the shame? Can you feel that it is OK to feel good?
Now, I want you to reach out your right hand and grab the hand on your right.
Reach out your left hand and grab the one coming towards you.
Now, raise those hands high! High as the sky! High as the moon!
Feel the glory of the Goddess of Light!
Feel the glory of the Goddess come into your hands! Feel her glory come into
your arms! Feel the glory come into your bodies! Say: "I feel the glory!"
Feel the power of the returning God of the Sun coming into your hands! Feel his power come into your arms! Feel the power come into your bodies!
